Racism, the black stain placed on our hearts

This speech was originally delivered on our radio program, Focusislam.com, on 770 AM

All praises are due to Allah (SWT), the Lord, the Eternal King, the Creator who had created us from a single seed in the mother’s womb, the One who has created us all equal in His sight, the one who has ordained mankind to be kind, loving, and just towards each other.

We praise him, hope for his peace, and strive for his mercy. We seek refuge in the Most Just, our Lord, from the evil that is present within our own selves and our evil actions.

I testify that none has the right to be worshipped except Allah, and I testify that the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) is his last and his final Prophet to mankind. The mercy to Mankind, our beloved Prophet (SAW) is the one who had ordered the believers to be just and loving to each other. Our beloved Prophet us the one who had ordered the believers to be just too every individual regardless of his race, color or status, and had strictly forbidden discrimination, and ordered us to be of the pious, for verily the most beloved in sight of Allah is the one who has the most piety.

For verily this is the black stain on our society, this eternal curse that once someone narrow minded is indulged in to, he is locked in a mental trap, thinking himself above others because he believes that the color of his skin is more supreme then the others.

The soul of an individual has no color our souls are colorless. If it is the wealth and status that someone is proud of, let that individual for a moment never forget that when our mothers delivered us birth in this world by the decree of Allah (SWT), we were born helpless, naked, uncircumcised, and in a state of despair. For verily that same condition that we were born in, we will be returned to that condition in our graves, and we will rise on the Day of Judgement in that same condition. In a total state of despair, naked, uncircumcised, with our good and bad deeds that will be weighed before the Lord, the Most High, the Supreme, the one Swift in accounting, the one we will face whether we like it or not.

After the Lord speaks in the Holy Quran of our rights and the way we must treat each other, in Chapter 49 of Surah Al-Hujrat, in ayah 13, Allah (SWT) makes a clear distinction of whom it really is who really has the most honor:

    arabic

O mankind! We have created you from a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know one another. Verily, the most honourable of you with Allâh is that (believer) who has At-Taqwa [i.e. one of the Muttaqûn (pious - see V.2:2). Verily, Allâh is All-Knowing, All-Aware.

Let us open our minds, and come out of our mental prison by thinking of others less than us. If you personally have this disease in your heart, I advice you to fear Allah (SWT), I advice you to repent to Allah (SWT), I advice myself and I advice you to always remember the warning of our Prophet (SAW) who warned the one who has pride in his heart even equal to the weight of a mustard seed will be forbidden from entering in to paradise, regardless of the piety that individual thinks he has.

I have decided to make my talk to you short and concise, I have decided to leave you with a short message, so that you apply to yourselves, and warn your loved ones, your spouses, your children, and all those whom Allah has blessed you to associate with.

Remember that one day you will die, you will be placed in the darkest and deepest pit of your grave, and will be all alone accountable for whatever you have done in this life.

Let us never forget the warning of our Prophet (SAW) who warned his beloved companions and the whole of this ummah until the Day of Judgement. This last sermon was a conclusion of his life, I advice you to search for this sermon on the internet or read it online on our site focusislam.com, and take a moment out of you time to just ponder upon ever line in this sermon.

One of the things our beloved Prophet (SAW) made mentioned of was:

“All mankind is from Adam and Eve, an Arab has no superiority over a non-Arab nor a non-Arab has any superiority over an Arab; also a white has no superiority over black nor a black has any superiority over white except by piety and good action. Learn that every Muslim is a brother to every Muslim and that the Muslims constitute one brotherhood. Nothing shall be legitimate to a Muslim which belongs to a fellow Muslim unless it was given freely and willingly. Do not, therefore, do injustice to yourselves.”

My brothers and sisters, the message is clear and more distinct then ever, Allah and His Messenger (SAW) are calling us, are we willing to respond to this call? My duty is to convey the message, your duty in front of Allah (SWT) is whole heartedly except this call.

I will say what the Prophet said to his people who were around him at the time, as the conclusion of his life in this world:

“All those who listen to me shall pass on my words to others and those to others again; and may the last ones understand my words better than those who listen to me directly. Be my witness, O ALLAH, that I have conveyed your message to your people"

I pray to Alah (SWT) to open our hearts towards his deen, I pray to Allah (SWT) to guide us to the straight path, to remove this black stain from our hearts, to remove this inferiority complex we suffer from. To expand our hearts and fill it with love for Allah, love for his messenger, love for his household, and love for his companions. To allow us to preserve their actions in our lives, to allow us to relive their glory of justice. I pray to Allah (SWT) to guide those muslims who prevent others from embracing the deen of Allah. I pray to Allah (SWT) to allow us to be ease and success in this life, to remove us from the burden of the Yawmil Qiyammah from the Day of Judgement, to admit us in to gardens underneath which rivers flow.
