AM (please see program schedule for timings) All praises are due to Allah (SWT), we praise, hold tight to his rope, and
hope for his mercy. We praise Allah while seeking refuge from the evil that has
deeply enrooted within the depths of our hearts and our evil actions our
blindness to the guidance of Allah and His Messenger.
Whomsoever has been guided, whose chest has been expanded towards the
guidance of Allah (SWT) there is none that can misguide. Whomsoever has been
blinded from the truth, preferring the life of this world to the life of the
next, rejecting the guidance of the Messenger, there is none who can guide such
an individual.
I testify and make a firm conviction that none has the right to be worshipped
except Allah (SWT), and I testify that the Prophet Muhammed (SAW) is his last
and final Prophet, the bright sun of the morning that shined, whose teachings
effected the hearts of millions and millions, the one who exemplified the Quran
for us.
For verily Allah (SWT) has made the Quran easy for men of understanding, so
is there any that will take heed from it's message?
Allah (SWT) states in the Quran for men of understanding, for those whose
eyes and hearts opened! for those whose hearts are not locked in dungeon and the
deepest darkest depths of misguidance! Allah (SWT) says in Surah Al-Qamar,
Chapter 54, the same verse is repeated four times in the same surah, verses 17,
22, 32 and 40:

And We have indeed made the Qur'ân easy to understand and remember, then is
there any that will remember (or receive admonition)?
The message is clear my listeners, let us open our eyes to the truth! The
Lord of the heavens and earth, the Most Compassionate, the One who created us
from the darkest womb of our mothers, the One who created us from nothing and
will return us to be nothing, is calling us towards guidance, is opening His
doors of mercy wide, is blessing those who uphold his commands in their lives.
It is He who sent His Messenger to warn those who turn away from His
guidance, and to grant glad tidings to those who sacrifice their desires and
evil vices in this life so that they earn the pleasure of the hereafter.
Let us be of those who concentrate upon the Quran, a guidance, a light, with
clear distinction between darkness, evil, and misguidance to light, eternal
goodness, and guidance. Brothers and Sisters, Allah and His Messenger are
calling upon us to be of those who remove ourselves from the darkest pits of the
fire, to eternal gardens of paradise, wherein no one will be touched with any
evil.
We must understand this Quran and live up to its message. The Quran was
revealed so that we may take heed from its message and be reminded of our reason
in this life, and be warned about eternal punishment from this life to the next.
Allah (SWT) says in the Quran:

Do they not then think deeply in the Qur'ân, or are their hearts locked up (from
understanding it)?
Have our hears been locked up from understanding the Quran? Was it that Allah
revealed the Quran to his Messenger and the Companions who lived and spent their
whole lives over a book that contains no guidance?
Are we by not reading the Quran neglecting the life of our Prophet who spent
his whole life upholding the Quran?
Verily, Allah (SWT) revealed this Quran which is a cure and a healing for the
hardened hearts. A reminder for the one who takes heed and is not blinded by the
glitter of this life. One who fears and remembers His Lord standing, lying and
sitting, a reminder for the one who wants to live a successful and honorable
life in this world, and be of the successful in the hereafter.
Recitation and understanding the Quran is a softener for the hardened heart!
If we feel our hearts are heavy and are forgetful of Allah (SWT) let us remember
the saying of our Prophet (SAW) who said to his beloved companions that the
heart becomes rusty like iron. When he was asked by his companions of the cure,
he (SAW) said recitation of the Quran and the remembrance of death.
Verily it is this Quran that reminded man to not indulge in the evil of this
life, to not be unjust nor inflict it upon others, and to always live in this
world remembering what Allah has told us in the Quran and his Messenger (SAW)
spent 23 years of his precious life teaching.
For verily the precious words of Surah Al-Hud of the Quran and its sister
surahs made the blessed hair of our Prophet (SAW) gray, due to the immense fear
of Allah (SWT). Abu Bakr As-Sideeq (RA) while leading the people in the Salah
use to weep continuously. Uthman Bin Affan (R.A) said: ""If our hearts were
pure, they will never have enough from reciting Allah’s Speech (the Qur’an)."
For verily we have lost the complete point of being Muslims if we fail to
understand this Quran, we basically missed the boat. Let us make a schedule
during our days, where we devote a specific time to studying the Quran, reading
its blessed verses in Arabic, while understanding, contemplating and deeply
pondering upon it in our own languages.
There was a brother who accepted Islam three years ago, however his father, a
non-Muslim, was never satisfied with acceptance of Islam. Yesterday, this
brother was with his father at my office, until we requested this brother who
accepted Islam to recite a few verses from the Quran. This brother he started to
recite the verses of Surah Sajdah, until he reached ayah 13 where it says:

And if We had willed, surely! We would have given every person his guidance, but
the Word from Me took effect (about evildoers), that I will fill Hell with jinn
and mankind together.
He kept reciting this ayah, until he broke down on the table full of tears in
his eyes, crying that Allah (SWT) mercy is so great however due to the results
of the evil-doers, the Word of Allah (SWT) took effect whereby they will be
filled in the fire of Hell for eternity!
The great scholar of the past Ibn Al-Qayyim said with regards to what one
should do to cure his weak Iman using the Qur’an, "First you should remove your
heart from the life of this world and settle it in the Last Life. Then, pay your
full attention to pursuing the meanings of the Qur’an, and try to comprehend and
understand them and what they were sent down to accomplish. Then, offer these
meanings to the sickness that your heart feels, and when they touch the disease,
they will cure the heart, Allah willing."
We must read the Quran in Arabic, understand it in our own languages, apply
it in our own lives, and teach it to others. We must decrease our sins, for
verily the Quran, the light, will stay and be embedded in the hearts of the one
who is sincere with His Lord.
One day the noble mother of the great scholar of the past, Sufyaan
Ath-Thauree said to her son: "O my son! Seek out Knowledge, and I will, with my
spinning wheel provide you enough for you to live on. O my son, when you have
written down ten Ah-Hadeeth, look and see if you notice an improvement in the
way you walk, in your level of patience, and in your degree of self-dignity. For
if you do not see any improvement, then know that your knowledge harms you and
does not benefit you.!"
I advice you search the net or visit a store, however search for a Qari whose
voice moves your heart, and listen to this recitation daily, while at home, at
school, or in the car. This process will soften your heart, so that when you sit
to read and understand the Quran, its wisdom will take your heart over, and your
eyes will shed tears by realizing the reality of this life!
I pray to Allah (SWT) to guide us to the straight path, to guide us,
strengthen our love for each other! To allow us to live in this life with mercy,
compassion, dignity, respect, and love for each other. I pray to Allah (SWT) to
allow the wisdom of his book to deeply effect our hearts, to remove us from the
darkness of our ignorance, from evil of our ownselves, to guide us to the light!
I pray to Allah (SWT) to allow us uphold his message in our lives, to live by
His Supreme Tauhid in our lives and teach it to others. Truly it is Allah who
guides and grants success to whom he pleases!
