The Prophet said,
"There are two
blessings which many people lose: Health and free time for doing
good." (It was
Narrated Ibn 'Abbas, Bukhari,
Volume 8, Book 76,
Number 421:)
Nowadays two
things are built in commonly in our lifestyle:
BUSY
Today, what has
made us so busy?
The fact of
the matter is that we became providers for ourselves, and are obedient
to Satan.
And this is by
doing over commitments which we can't actually handle, by dreaming to
build the perfect model house, in the place where we live. Or by driving
the most luxurious car available, or by having the most luxurious and
unique things that we use in our daily lifestyles. And buying the most
expensive decoration pieces, regardless if we have any time to clean
their dust off.
We end up
spending so much so that we may ensure we are up to the standard of this
world, which is never ending.
And we may
make sure, that if anyone were to see our house, must be shocked. And
must admit that we have a unique personality, and be impressed on the
heaven we built ourselves. By getting fully devoted to such acts, we
forget the never ending life, which is after death, and which will last
for eternity.
These are over
commitments, which lead us to being busy, up to the point of stress,
heart attacks, nervous breakdowns, blood pressures, diabetes, and many
other diseases as a result. Just because we want to maintain our showing
off and busy lifestyle.
Dreams of life
are that which comes from Satan, so that we may make sure that we never
die, and ensure all comforts are in place for ourselves, families, and
guests.
And we make
sure that we are only praised, and whomever sees us he should praise us,
and call us a great, creative, smart, and brilliant.
The real
praises are only for Allah, and we must realize his greatness and the
endless blessings which he bestowed upon us for our comfort of life.
Satan ensures
that we worship him, by obeying our unlawful desires, which eventually
leads us towards Kufr (disbelief), by teaching us to make sure that all
praises are only for us.
We
work hard to build our status and wealth, regardless of the diseases we
may face as a result.
We forget,
that usually it is busy, worldly successful people who finally reached
their goals and achievements for worldly success are the ones who mostly
suffer. By the time they reach their goals, they start to lose their
health in normal conditions, or by having major diseases such as blood
pressure, heart attacks, cancer and so on. Their hard work and earnings
pay off the balance of their lives in medical treatment and hospital
bills, all the hospitals are always full of them. All the money they
earned, regardless lawful or unlawful, involve in diseases like cancer,
or many other deadly diseases.
The
achievements of this life are similar to one eating the highest grade
food and the highest grade restraunt, eat but have to digest it, turning
in to waste. LIkewise we work our whole lives earning, but once we die,
it all goes to waste. Excluding the one who works towards his soul, and
is obedient to the laws of Allah and the examples of the Prophet
.
They pay
hospital bills for the rest of their lives, with all of their hard work
earning, they strived their entire lives to earn.
Which they
fought over when they were healthy, so they may make sure that every
dollar they earn is smartly used, and no one takes a single cent from
them. And all needy people are only faking, and do not deserve any money
from them, and Satan teaches them, that this is the way it is suppose to
be. After they involve in disease, all of their earning they ready to
pay so that they become normal again. We can visit any hospital and see
how many rich people are sitting there, with the hope that they will
become normal one day, and will have the same life they had when they
started from their youth, to enjoy their money. We can admire our busy
life, what did we gain from this crown we put on ourselves, by the word
busy? So people may admire that we are very valuable, and they will be
lucky to even talk to us.
Those who
claim to be busy and successful people, there is nothing wrong being a
true Muslim to be successful. The same day we spend without the examples
of the Holy Prophet, is the day of ours that goes to waste. If someone
were to follow the enlightened examples of the Holy Prophet, it never
changes a person, regardless of his status, his soul follows it, and no
one would see him to be outdated from his face or looks. It is only for
us to say they sayings of the Holy Prophet in our life routines
according to the situation they are needed in such as, waking up, going
to the restroom, etc. This saves us from all calamities and problems,
and we realize the greatness of our Provider. Being a Muslim, our day
will be very satisfactory for us. Any busy person, whenever he realizes
being a Muslim, he feels guilt. There is no special requirements we just
have to say those words which would take 15 or 20 seconds, and it will
bring us towards the path of the laws of Allah here and in the
hereafter, and inshallah we do not fall in to the categories of a
hypocrite (Munafiq) or Kaafir.
When we start
our days instead of thinking about our routines and chores, we should
realize Allah by saying that which the holy Prophet taught us to
realize, while doing our daily actions.
Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi ahyaana
ba'da ma amaatana wa ilaihin nushur.
Praise is to Allah Who bring us
life after He has brought us death and unto Him is the return.
When we say
this we realize that we were dead and not in our senses, but by Allah's
will we came back to our senses. There are some who sleep, while
breathing, they go in to a coma, and never wake up. There is a man who
works in a hospital in Houston Texas, who has experienced patients who
beg their attendants not to unplug their lives, when they wake from the
coma. They do not worry about their bank balances, business, or about
the condition. Their living off the machines in the hospitals. They are
those who are depending on their life insurances. There bills are all
paid, but they cannot feel it because they are "dead". There houses are
all set with luxurious furniture, their building are still there, but it
is useless because they are not using it, and wasted the most essential
time of their lives to earn it, however when the time to use it came,
they fall in to a coma, and everything they earned becomes useless. The
crowned busy person forgets, that a second in his life will come, while
he is busy, will take him away forever from his wealth, status,
families, relatives, and friends.
We must
remind ourselves, of the following dua:
"Our Lord, no one can ever deprive aught
of what You have bestowed and no one can ever give aught of what You
have deprived."
Laa ilaaha illallaahu
wahdahu laa shareeka lahu. Lahul-mulku wa lahul-hamdu, wa Huwa 'alaa
kulli shai'in Qadeer.
Subhaan Allahi, wa-hamdu
lilaahi, wa laa ilaaha illallaahu, wa llaahu akbar, wa laa hawla wa laa
Quwwata illa billaahi-'Aliyyil-Aadheem, Rabbigh firlee
There is none worthy of
worship but Allah alone. Who has no partner, His is the dominion and to
Him belongs all praises. And He is able to do all things, glory be unto
Allah, praises be to Allah, there is none worthy of worship but Allah.
Allah is the gracious, their is no mighty, and no power except by
Allah's leave, the Exalted, the Mighty, my Lord, forgive me.
After
realizing all of Allah's power, which is out of human comprehension, we
cannot do anything by ourselves, and we cannot save ourselves from a
calamity. When our soul realizes this, then that is a insurance from
Allah for the day, and we come under the umbrella of his protection.
Instead of thinking about our routines and chores every morning, or by
starting our day with music and the news, from our alarm clocks.
Today as we
know, restrooms became a library, where people would sit comfortably,
and read their magazines and newspapers, instead of doing our business
and leaving immediately.
If we were to
sit and contemplate, we could come up with more then mentioned in this
article.
BORED
After all of
these achievements mentioned above from the busy lifestyle, lets realize
when we are bored. This comes in our minds immediately, because we
worked so hard, and deserve a break.
How does Satan
work with us, he fills us with ideas to enjoy our time, and plan for
weekends or holidays. He shows all work should be done in our holidays,
so we make sure that our house becomes more up to date, or to make sure
we have all our groceries and things we need. We look from store to
store, to make sure we find something unique and unusual at a give away
price. Our evenings on holidays are spent in having a movie, or worrying
about worldly matters. Or planning a vacation or a picnic. And we make
sure ourselves, our wives, and children are up to date, from hair
designing to all of our useless things filled in our houses. So we make
sure, our time is worthwhile to use, and not to be relaxed. Some people,
who do not have enough things to do, are lazy and are bored because they
have nothing to do, so all they do is rent movies for a dollar. Satan
ensures, that our time must be killed in worldly affairs, regardless if
we are building an empire for our children, or if we are relaxing. He
wants to catch us from both windows, so he can make sure we do not turn
to our provider, our creator and sustainer, who is the all knower of
each and every second in our lives, what we reveal and conceal. We
forget that we claim to be a mother, father, brother sister, husband or
wife, these relations have nothing to do with a soul, when we leave from
this world. We must realize our time and activities, because what we
feed in our brains day and night about worldly matters, and we ignore
Allah. So how can these things work, being a Muslim? We can imagine the
treatment given to those who denied Allah's law, and the prophets
examples, what treatment will they face?
The Prophet said,
"When a human being is laid in his grave and his companions return
and he even hears their foot steps, two angels come to him and make
him sit and ask him: What did you use to say about this man,
Muhammad ? He will say: I testify that he is Allah's slave and His
Apostle. Then it will be said to him, 'Look at your place in the
Hell-Fire. Allah has given you a place in Paradise instead of it.' "
The Prophet added, "The dead person will see both his places. But a
non-believer or a hypocrite will say to the angels, 'I do not know,
but I used to say what the people used to say! It will be said to
him, 'Neither did you know nor did you take the guidance (by
reciting the Quran).' Then he will be hit with an iron hammer
between his two ears, and he will cry and that cry will be heard by
whatever approaches him except human beings and jinns. (It
was narrated by Anas (R.A), in Bukhari, Volume 2, Book 23, Number
422)
BORED AND
BUSY, has to be changed, before the second comes, and we close our eyes
and account for our deeds.
One is "bored"
when we relax from our busy life, right away this world comes in our
mind.
Then we look
at entertainments immediately, to think how we can pass our time. Maybe
rent a movie, or go out for food, some songs, the question is why?

And the life of this world
is nothing but play and amusement. But far better is the house in the
Hereafter for those who are AlMuttaqûn (the pious - see V.2:2).
Will you not then understand? (6:22)
Because Satan
keeps us away from the connection with Allah, so we cannot think about
him.

And indeed he (Satan) did
lead astray a great multitude of you. Did you not, then, understand?
(36:62)
As one can see
today, when one is working at the workplace, or on the telephone holding
time, or while traveling in a car, or on air plane, there is music
everywhere. And most of the places, there is also a TV, or even when we
are on vacation, it seems to be in today's world that one cannot live
without music. And during our "busy" or "bored" time.
Lets say for
example, while we are trying to struggle with our busy life, or when we
are bored we are entertaining ourselves, and in the mean time the angel
of death comes, wouldn't that be a very big surprise? What we forgot all
about. And after that whatever heavily we are involved in that will be
coming out of our mouth during the time of death, or when the angels
will question us in the grave. Instead of reading the Shahadah, and
remembering Allah and his Messenger, we would world so much and singing
the loving songs, which learned from movies, and our "favorite" singers,
would be coming out of our mouth.

The mutual rivalry for piling up
of worldly things diverts you, (102:1)

Until you visit the graves (i.e.
till you die). (102:2)
Because our
mind was always busy and and bored in these matters. From the time when
the baby grows until death, the mind is always occupied in experiencing
and absorbing new and new things, which records in our memory. So in the
grave, our memory instead of remembering the Shahadah before dying, and
asking Allah's forgiveness, if we do not know those words, which are
especially recommended, we would be treated just like a non-believer. Is
it worth it to keep storing in our memory bank only things related to
this world? When one is struggling in a life and death situation, and
putting pressure on your brain, to remember to seek repentance from
Allah, however your brain never received any message from the Qur'an and
the examples of our Prophet (SAW), how would you be reminded of those
things, when you never stored in your memory bank, the Qur'an and the
examples of the Prophet which would help at the time of death and in the
grave.
Please remind
and train yourself, if one is close to taste death, while someone is
harming him with a knife or gun, then how much would we remember and ask
protection from Allah during that situation. Then how can we forget the
second that would come in our lifetimes that would transfer us to death,
and this is only controlled by Allah (SWT). Never listen to Satan who
gives us assurance of our life, the way Adam (AS) was given assurance.

Say (O Muhammad SAW to
these hypocrites who ask your permission to run away from you): "Flight
will not avail you if you flee from death or killing, and then you will
enjoy no more than a little while!" (33:16)

...desiring the pomp and glitter
of the life of the world; and obey not him whose heart We have made
heedless of Our Remembrance, one who follows his own lusts and whose
affair (deeds) has been lost. (18:28)

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "Shall We tell you the greatest losers in
respect of (their) deeds? (18:103)

"Those whose efforts have been wasted in this life while they thought
that they were acquiring good by their deeds! (18:104)

"They are those who deny the Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses,
lessons, signs, revelations, etc.) of their Lord and the Meeting with
Him (in the Hereafter). So their works are in vain, and on the Day of
Resurrection, We shall not give them any weight. (18:105)

"That shall be their recompense, Hell; because they disbelieved and took
My Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations,
etc.) and My Messengers by way of jest and mockery. (18:106)
